PRAYERS

O God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.

Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So will I bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call on your name.

For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy. My soul clings to you; your right hands upholds me.

My soul is satisfied when I meditate in the watches of the night, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips.

Almighty God, even while we are absent from you in this world, it is the principal part of our happiness that there is open to us a simple access to you by faith. Grant that we may be able to come into your presence with a pure heart; and when our lips are polluted, purify us by your Spirit, so that we may not only pray to you with the mouth, but that we might pray sincerely; and that we may earnestly seek to spend our whole life in glorifying your name, until at last, being gathered into your celestial kingdom, we may be truly united to you; and be made partakers of that glory which has been procured for us by the blood of your only Son.
